Job Summary: International Lifeline Fund (Lifeline) is currently seeking to recruit a Marketing and Sales Manager for its fuel-efficient stoves program, to fulfill an exciting role within the organization. The Marketing and Sales Manager is primarily responsible for supervising, managing, and operating the marketing and sales of fuel-efficient stoves in accordance with the Lifeline country’s strategic priorities. This role will offer the successful candidate a chance to work with high-performing colleagues and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing and Sales strategy
- Develop a marketing and sales strategy for the period 2022-2023 for optimizing the distribution of fuel-efficient cookstoves in Uganda and expanding the market for the EcoSmart cookstove brand and other product lines.
- Identify appropriate marketing and sales tools to reach strategic objectives
- Continuously analyze trends of demand and supply in the fuel-efficient cookstove market to identify marketing and sales opportunities
- Establish a pricing strategy and recommend selling prices
Marketing and Sales planning and logistics
- Develop quarterly marketing and sales plans, with associated budgets and in line with the strategic objective
- Meet marketing and sales operational and financial targets, including timely distribution of stoves to end-users and vendors
- Provide monthly planning for relevant marketing and sales activities/purchases to ensure timely sourcing of materials for stove production
- Provide accountability for marketing and sales purchases (e.g. invoices, receipts, deposit slips etc.)
Vendor and Stove Hub network
- Assess and manage the existing vendor network in existing target areas
- Conduct marketing surveys and assessments in new expansion areas to identify new vendors and opportunities to set up Stove Hubs
- Provide training and support to vendors and Stove Hub network
- Maintain and update Stock Status template for each Hub
End-user data management
- Supervise data clerks in tracking user data related to carbon credit monitoring requirements
- Train marketing and sales team in data collection methods (e.g. digital platforms)
Marketing and Sales team management and coordination
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the marketing and sales team (e.g. marketing sales agents and marketing assistants)
- Ensure all Hub supervisors or operators have a work plan in place
- Recruit and train new marketing sales agents
- Conduct in-house training on fuel-efficient cookstove marketing
- Coordinate with Production manager to ensure meeting sales forecasts
- Participate in the evaluation of the marketing and sales team
Marketing and Sales reporting and communications
- Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually marketing and sales reports in a timely manner and according to reporting templates
- Facilitate media and promotional activities (e.g. campaigns, events) for fuel-efficient stoves marketing and sales
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s in marketing or any other relevant degree in the field of Business
- At least five years of experience in marketing and sales, preferably in the clean energy sector, and with a track record of increasing sales figures
- Strong ability to work at a strategic level and create a long-term vision
- Proven dedication to developing and executing work plans carefully and in a timely manner
- Excellent team management and coordination skills
- Excellent knowledge of data collection and management methods
- Strong commitment to creating sustainable partnerships with the private sector, government, and communities
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to use online platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc) for marketing purposes is a plus
- Strong commitment to personal competence, discipline, and professionalism
- Ability to work under pressure, both independently and in a team
