Job Title: Manager Risk & Compliance

About US:
Uganda Airlines is the flag carrier of Uganda. The company is a revival of the older Uganda Airlines which operated from 1977 until 2001. It began flying in August 2019.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and lead the Risk management strategy for the organization.
- Support the Chief Finance Officer in embedding a risk awareness culture
- Establish and quantify the Organization’s ‘risk appetite’, and ‘risk tolerance’ and ensure risk approaches adherence accordingly.
- Assist in compiling a risk profile for the organization.
- Provide support by contributing to quantifying risks by considering the consequence and likelihood of occurrences.
- Ensure that risks are captured and maintained in the risk management information system.
- Support in the development of the risk management plan.
- Update and maintain an integrated risk register.
- Follow-up on all external and internal audit findings ensuring that they are adequately resolved.
- Ensure adherence to the risk management methodology as guided in the enterprise risk management policy and risk quality procedures.
- Provide input where necessary to ensure that all potential risks are identified, and treatment strategies developed.
- Liaise with insurance brokers regarding insurance plans for the Airline, head office, and outstation locations.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to manage business interruptions, volatile market events, and other emergencies.
- Updating the incident register and action tracker on a regular basis.
- Track, consolidate, and report on the status of incident investigations and actions.
- Assesses business risks and defines risk mitigation strategies to reduce the impact on business performance in collaboration with the Leadership Team
- Perform risk reviews and assessments to gauge.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business management, Law, Actuarial Science, or Risk Management. A certified Risk Professional is a requirement.
- A thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management.
- At least four to six years of relevant experience in a supervisory role evaluating business operations in risk management or assurance, preferably in the airline industry.
- Good presentation skills utilizing Microsoft Office tools and any others as may be required.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive ownership and accountability.
