Man City DESTROYS Real Madrid to Reach Champions League Final

Man City progressed to the final after a 4-0 against Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final, securing a 5-1 aggregate win at Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City outclassed holders Real Madrid and advanced to the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul thanks to a relentless performance packed with outstanding talent.

City have previously lost two semi-finals to Real Madrid, but they made no mistake here at a joyful Etihad Stadium and are now one step closer to lifting the trophy that has always remained tantalizingly out of grasp for Pep Guardiola’s squad.

And their performance in a stunning first half, in particular, will live long in the memory, as the tournament’s masters were left perplexed by City’s brilliance.

It maintained its seemingly unstoppable march towards a treble of the Champions League, the Premier League (which they can win if they beat Chelsea at home on Sunday, and the FA Cup, in which they face Manchester United in the final at Wembley.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved two Erling Haaland headers early in the first half, but he couldn’t stop Bernardo Silva’s close-range strike after 23 minutes, and the Portugal midfielder added a looping header eight minutes before halftime.

This is one of the highest [results of my career], considering the opponent, Real Madrid, in the semi-final of the Champions League. We had to perform well, and we did it, especially in the first half. It was really, really good.

Guardiola

City have put themselves in a fantastic position to become only the second English club to win the Treble, which Manchester United first won in 1999.

City appears to have finally surpassed Arsenal in the Premier League championship battle and will be overwhelming favourites to defeat Inter Milan, but the desire to repeat this feat will offer fuel and excitement for United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

City made a Real Madrid side full of experience and quality look several classes beneath them in a first half that will go down as one of the best this stadium has ever seen, with dazzling interplay, fierce intensity, and pace giving them a two-goal lead that would have been much larger but for Courtois’ excellence.

This night had a special vibe even before the game began, and triumph will taste much better considering the agony of last season’s loss at the same point, when City was almost in the final only to lose due to two stoppage-time goals.
Despite their domestic domination, City has suffered varied levels of misery in the Champions League, but if they perform like this in Istanbul, it is difficult to see them winning.
