Makerere University’s Prof. Noble Banadda and Dr. Isa Kabenge to co-chair the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Symposium in Madagascar

Prof. Noble Banadda and Dr. Isa Kabenge from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) Makerere University will co-chair Sessions during the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Conference which will take place in Madagascar from 27th to 29th November 2019.

Noble Banadda Chairs the Department of Agricultural and BioSystems Engineering, School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bioengineering, while Dr. Isa Kabenge is a Lecturer in the same Department with research interests in nutrient cycles, food waste and environment management.

This Conference has been arranged by the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Frontiers of Engineering for Development.

The symposium is under the theme “From feeding people to nourishing people”.

Frontiers of Engineering for Development brings together 60 of the best early and mid-career researchers and practitioners from industry, academia, NGOs and the public sector in multidisciplinary workshops that address fundamental development challenges.

This conference is aimed at encouraging collaborative work that addresses international development challenges and promotes cross-disciplinary thinking among the next generation of engineering leaders.

The symposium feature three interactive sessions under the themes: Agricultural revolution; Healthy diets; as well as Food loss and waste.

Prof. Banadda will co-chair the three-day symposium including; GCRF Challenge Leader, Food Systems and Gender, while Dr. Kabenge will co-chair a session on; “How do we tackle losses and waste of foods already produced?” under Food loss and food waste.
