Makerere University has suspended two post-graduate courses under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The suspension is due to the limited staff according to Prof. Oswald Ndolerire, the principal of the college.
The affected courses include Public Administration and Management and International Relations.
The internal evaluation and assessment indicated that the college was risking offering low-quality training which could contravene National Council of Higher Education guidelines.
The college has 23 part-time lecturers and yet some of them are still pursuing their doctoral studies.
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences has over 300 students studying postgraduate courses despite the limited number of lecturers.
The college’s spokesperson, Hasifa Kabejja said the courses were suspended to create time for the school to enhance its capacity for the task.
