Makerere University- Money for supervising interns is out

Mukwaya Denis

Important issues first,today-Monday 21st July @ 1:30pm, I went to meet the Dean EASLIS. However, he was not in office but I substituted and talked to DR.Luyombya instead.

Concerning internship supervision, he told me monies were released last week so today the 21st July is the first day supervisors have started moving to different organisations where EASLIS students were given placements.

He told me he was going to supervise those in Nakawa today after lunch, tomorrow he will be going for those in Masaka.

He told me a few changes were made in the list for academic supervisors and encouraged students to just stay at their work stations so that they can be supervised.

I want to thank you for waiting patiently this long and urge you to keep me posted once faced with any challenge concerning supervision.

Earlier today we had a demonstration against 10% increment and we presented a petition to the concerned offices requesting for a forensic audit of Makerere university. We gave the university council an ultimatum of two days to sort this.

On Wednesday, we will gather at the freedom square and we take a petition to parliament.
Thanks to all those who were part of the struggle for a better Makerere.

The writer is Mukwaya Denis, Minister without portfolio at Makerere University Students’ GUILD
