Makerere University in Search for New Deputy Vice Chancellors

Makerere University is recruiting new Deputy Vice Chancellors and the search for eligible people to fill up the two posts is on.

“We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to take up the positions of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration)”, a notice posted on the university website reads.

It further reads that as members of the University Executive, reporting to the Vice Chancellor, both Deputy Vice Chancellors are expected through influence and example to help develop, lead and promote the University’s strategic vision and to position Makerere University for the challenges of the next decade.

According to the notice, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) shall be responsible for the Academic Affairs of the University.

He or She will, in the absence of the Vice Chancellor, perform the functions of the Vice Chancellor and such other functions as may be delegated to him or her by the Vice Chancellor and University Council.

While the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration) will report to and assist the Vice Chancellor in the performance of his or her functions and in that regard shall oversee the finances and administration of the University and be responsible for the strategic direction, planning and development of the University.

Deadline: Applications should be delivered to the Office of the Academic Registrar not later than 5:00PM, East African Time of Monday, 15th October 2018.

Applications sent by electronic media (email) to dvcsearch2018[at]acadreg.mak.ac.ug will also be accepted, provided the application has been duly signed and scanned.

He previously worked as a journalist with Observer media and authored several articles and stories. He does research, video & audio recording, editing and production for online publication. He Participated in The New Dawn photography campaign aimed at rebranding Northern Uganda-USAID/NUTI Project (2010). Philimon is in love with photography, writing, reading, sharing new ideas and interacting with reasonable people for skills development.
