As it has always been, Freshers at Makerere University report a week earlier than the continuing students. In this week, the new students are introduced to the key facilities in the University as well as other important aspects of life at the University by the guild body.
The office of the Academic Registrar released the orientation draft program for the academic year 2017/2018.
The orientation program is as follows: Orientation Day: Monday 14th August, 2017 (Orientation Day) from 9.00 a.m – 1.00 p.m Semester One Monday 14th August, 2017 to Saturday 16th December, 2017 (17 Weeks)
Saturday 12th August, 2017 Resident Freshers report to their respective Halls of residence or private Hostels by 5.00 p.m. It is the responsibility of each student to make his/her own travel arrangements to the University or private hostel.
Monday 14thAugust, 2017 All Freshers shall report to the Freedom Square for a meeting with the University officials at 9.00 a.m. The Freedom square is the open ground in front of the main Administration Building where official functions of the University are normally performed. Colleges/Schools will organize their orientation programmes in the afternoon of 14th August, 2017.
Change of Programme/Subjects Each student who may wish to change his/her programme/subject is required to pay an application fee of Shs.6,000/= plus the bank charges to Stanbic Bank, dfcu Bank, Post Bank and Centenary Bank. The change of programme/subjects will begin from Monday 14th August, 2017 to Friday 18th August, 2017 at Level 3, Senate Building.
Degree/Diploma Holders who may wish to change programmes/subjects will pick forms from Room No. 315, Level 3, Senate Building. It is advisable that only those students who meet the cut-off points for the desired programmes may apply.
Registration will take place in the first two weeks of the Semester at the respective Colleges/Schools from Monday 21st August, 2017.
