Hundreds of mourners have assembled at St. Augustine chapel Makerere University to pay pay tribute to Mrs. Kayanja Jane, the former lab technician department of chemistry, Makerere University. Jane passed away on 10th November 2014 after getting a stroke which untimely caused her death.
In his condolences message, the Vice chancellor regarded the late as a very hard working and committed lady. He further urged the staff members and students to live up to her legacy in order to achieve academically.
The principle of the college of natural science at Makerere University also sent condolences to the family and the entire University community for loosing such a very hard working lady.
The head of chemistry department who was Jane’s boss acknowledged her for the good service she offered to the department, he continued to describe her as an irreplaceable lady who served the department diligently for 34years since 1980.
The late had a sense of responsibility towards her duties and highly respected the professional ethics of lab technicians which made her to be one of the most longest serving staff at the college.
St. Augustine chapel also recognized her as one of the founder members of the non-students choir which she initiated in order to unite the staff and former students of Makerere University.
Jane has also been credited for having a very good soprano, and used to sing in many choirs like St Matiya Mulumba choir, St. Augustine’s choir Makerere among others.
Mrs. Kayanja Jane has been married to Mr. Kabuye Ssemboga Kayanja for the last 36years and God blessed them with children who also regarded her as a very loving and caring mother.
May her soul rest in peace.
