Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has finalized plans with China’s Shenyang University to set up an institute that will teach Chinese Culture and language.

The institute will not only benefit Ugandans in learning Chinese but also crate over 1000 jobs, the president of Shenyang University said.

He added that many will be employed as lecturers, Chinese book writers and as a result of learning Chinese, may Ugandans will be able to easily work in China.

A memorandum of understanding was signed at Kampala Serena Hotel between Shenyang University and Makerere University Business School.

Prof. Venecias Baryamureeba signed on behalf of MUBS while Li Lu Ping signed on behalf of Shenyang University. The signing was witnessed by the Director General of higher education, Elizabeth K.M Gabona and the State Minister for Regional Cooperation, Asuman Kiyingi.

According the MUBS deputy spokes person, Fredrick Rwakyaka, the physical construction of this institute premises will commence next academic year.

“This will be the first and largest Chinese teaching and learning centre here. We believe that this institute will not only attract Ugandans but also Chinese working here for classes,” Rwakyaka said.
