The ceremony will be attended by First Lady Mrs. Janet Museveni and the Vice Chancellor of the University of London, Professor Wendy Thomson. Professor Mangeni stated that the Chancellor, Professor Ezra Suruma, will preside over the event and will oversee each day of the graduation ceremony.
Graduates are expected to be at the event by 7 am with only two guests in attendance. A total of 13,221 graduands of which 6,809 (52%) are female will graduate. Of these,102 are PhD graduands, 1,378 master’s and 108 postgraduate diplomas, among others. These numbers, mean more female students will graduate compared to their male counterparts.
GRADUATION SCHEDULE
Makerere University went ahead and released some of the items that will not be allowed at the event. According to the chairperson of the Ceremonies Committee, Prof Patrick Mangeni, phones, cameras and video cameras are prohibited from Freedom Square
