Macroeconomics Job opportunity at Economic Policy Research Centre

Job Title:  Senior Research Fellow – Macroeconomics

Organization: Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

About EPRC:

The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) is Uganda’s leading economics research institution. Its mandate is to provide research and other forms of analytical support to Uganda’s development process. EPRC uses resources from Government of Uganda and Think Tank Initiative (TTI) under the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform empirical analysis of macro issues
  • Actively engage in commissioned work for and on behalf of the Centre
  • Based on research findings and sound analysis, contribute to national policy discourse
  • Guide research and capacity building activities of Research Fellows and Research Analysts
  • Mentor and train Research Fellows and Research Analysts

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The candidate should possess an extensive academic background with a Ph.D. in Economics or any related area in economics (by coursework and research), and master’s degree with a strong bias in macroeconomics from a reputable University
  • Detailed working knowledge of, and ability to apply modern macro-economic theory and methods
  • Possess excellent analytical skills in macroeconomic modeling
  • The candidate should be abreast with current global and national economic issues
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • At least three (3) years of postdoctoral research work experience
  • Significant experience of successful management and leadership of a research team working on large research projects
  • Possess skills in writing proposals and grant applications to solicit funds from various development partners to support the Centre’s activities
  • Professional experience of working in reputable research institutions
  • Proven high level writing skills as primary author in published research papers, review etc.
  • Strong training background in theory and methods of economic analysis
  • High-level interpersonal skills and good communication skills
  • Self-motivation and capability to work under tight deadlines in a competitive environment
  • Evidence of publication of own written articles in either local or international journals
  • Proven ability to use STATA, EViews, GAMS or GAUSS for data analysis
  • Unquestionable degree of personal integrity
