The Public Universities Joint Admissions Board recently released the list of students admitted on government sponsorship scheme.
About 3, 000 students were admitted to the different public universities; Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Kyambogo University, Busitema University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Makerere university and Gulu University.
The government funds a total of 4,000 students every year.
Schools from Kampala District dominated the list with 320 students. Wakiso had 300 students and Mukono 107.
The released list only covers direct, merit-based admissions. Another list of students to be admitted on district quota-based system is yet to be out.
