Legal Officer job at Law Development Centre

Job Title:  Legal Officer – Law Reform

The Law Development Centre (LDC) has a mandate to provide legal education to lawyers and non lawyers, undertake research in topical legal issues, contribute to legal reform, produce legal publications, teaching materials, law reports and also provide community legal services. Some of It’s key functions include;

  • To provide legal training to lawyers and non lawyers
  • To research into topical legal issues and recommend proposals for law reform
  • To provide law reports and legal publications
  • To provide community legal services

Job Summary: The incumbent will mainly be responsible for developing proposals for law reform.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Initiate and oversee proposals for law reform.
  • Prepare advice by LDC to Parliament or other body responsible for law reform
  • Coordinate law reform activities with the Uganda Law Reform Commission, First Parliamentary Counsel and other organizations/stakeholders.
  • Carry out any other work assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a good Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre.
  • At least two years’ work experience in law reform or related area of law.
  • Computer literacy skills are a must.
  • The applicants must be enrolled advocate.
  • The candidates must be persons of high integrity.

Age: Below 30 years
