Lecturers to receive 29 billion shillings payment from Government

The Ugandan government has agreed to pay public lecturers  29 billion Uganda shillings of the 39 billion debt they demand.

On sunday  August 5, 2018, lecturers held a meeting in which they petitioned the government to produce an updated salary structure to follow starting this academic year.

In response, the government sent a letter that has been received by Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) commiting itself to settle a debt of only 29 billion shillings.

 

Lecturers have agreed to keep their patience for sometime but promised to convene another meeting to find resolutions incase the government fails to implement the terms in the letter.
