DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Register legal documents and securities pledged by clients.
• Create and maintain departmental registers.
• Maintain the advocates’ diaries, schedule court cases, file and serve documents as appropriate.
• Obtain approval of chambers for the legal department from the Law Council to ensure compliance with the regulatory provisions.
• Obtain practicing certificates for bank advocates from the high court in order to maintain regulatory compliance for advocates.
• Compute all the fees payable, raise vouchers and pay relevant fees.
• Deliver advocates applications for practicing advocates with necessary receipts for filing at the High Court.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Timely registration of all legal documents and securities.
• Up to date registers in the department.
• Timely delivery of legal documents for stamp duty.
• Up-to-date internal register for all the bank’s legal documents.
• Up-to-date diary for the advocates.
JOB SPECIFICATION Qualifications
• Diploma in legal practice
• A post graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage
Experience
At least 1 year working experience preferably in a law firm or financial institution.
Competencies
• Record Keeping skills
• Computer Literacy
• Knowledge of Laws of Uganda
• Knowledge of court procedures and securities.
