Kyambogo University to Host 2nd Oil and Gas Skills Expo in August 2024

Kyambogo University, in collaboration with the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) and the Oil and Gas Trainer’s Association of Uganda (OGTAU), is gearing up to host the 2nd Oil and Gas Skills Expo on August 22nd and 23rd, 2024.

The event, set to take place at the university’s Central Teaching Facility (CTF) Grounds, aims to bridge the gap between the growing demands of the oil and gas industry and the available skill sets among students and recent graduates.

With Uganda’s oil and gas sector poised for significant expansion, Kyambogo University is focused on producing highly skilled engineers in fields such as Mining Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering, and Oil and Gas Engineering. The upcoming Expo is part of the university’s broader efforts to align its training programs with industry needs.

The Expo, themed “Training and Skilling: Unlocking Employment Opportunities in the Oil and Gas Sector and Beyond,” will bring together key players from the oil and gas industry, academia, and aspiring professionals.

The event will feature interactive workshops covering essential areas like drilling technologies, environmental management, and safety practices. These sessions are designed to enhance both the technical and soft skills of participants, making them more competitive in the job market.

In addition to workshops, the Expo will offer career guidance sessions, helping students navigate the complexities of the industry with advice on job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.

The event will also include exhibitions where leading companies in the oil and gas sector will showcase their latest innovations, services, and career opportunities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with professionals, explore different career paths, and learn about internships, graduate programs, and employment prospects.

As Uganda’s oil and gas industry continues to evolve, the Oil and Gas Skills Expo at Kyambogo University is expected to play a crucial role in preparing the next generation of professionals to meet the industry’s demands.
