Kumi University has been closed over a strike by students. The students were striking over the resignation of their University Vice Chancellor, Dr Kim Young who is moving back to South Korea.

The endless strike that started on Sunday has forced the University Council to close the university for security purposes and all the students have been sent home.

According to New Vision, Unviersity vehicle tyres were deflated, administration offices and the chapel were blocked with stones, tyres, desks and many others.

Kumi university is one of the private universities in Uganda. It was founded in 1996 by a Korean Missionary Christian couple as African Leaders Training Institute (ALTI).

ALTI later grew into Kumi University in 1999.
