Kakuru Tumusiime Gaston a final-year student at Kabale University has been arrested disguising as a UPDF officer.
It is said that Kakuru was disguising as a Uganda Police Defence Force (UPDF) personnel, and taking advantage of his false appearance to steal from fellow students and residents in Kabale.
The incident was confirmed by the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate who noted that the culprit has been nabbed.
Kakuru now faces a number of counts of crime including; impersonation, stealing over UGX 1.5 million, stealing mobile phones, theft of a motor vehicle (reg no UAT 856J) from residents.
Falsely claiming to be a special operative attached to CMI, it is alleged that he also robbed fellow students’ properties including laptops, which he converted to cash, at the institution (Kabale University).
The 26-year-old is a resident of Nyakambu cell, southern division Kabale municipality, and third year student pursuing Bachelor of Education Literature/English at Kabale University.
