Job Title: Web Master / Developer
National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Web Master / Developer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing and maintaining the NMS Website and Intranet Portal
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Study, internalize and adhere to established policies and procedures
- Collect, format, compile and keep record of information from all key user departments
- Write, develop, backup / restore and maintain content of the NMSWebsite and NMS intranet Portal.
- Collect, format and escalate feedback from NMS Website visitors and NMS Portal users to the appropriate departments for further action.
- Compile and prepare reports on usage of the NMS Website and Intranet Portal, security status, version control, Web quality assurance, etc.
- Research and propose appropriate web standards, technologies, ecommerce and marketing opportunities, functionality, integration with social media, integration with GSM based messaging (SMS), and cost – saving opportunities, etc.
- Mentor and train end users and content managers on various web management aspects, and implemented technologies / functionality (s).
- Explores and takes full advantage of the technological horizon and uses the latest Internet technologies to make exciting interactive web pages.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should possess an Honors Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Computer Science, Information Technology, Business and Information Technology, Business Computing, information Systems or their equivalents.
- Past experience of managing the structure and design of large websites
- Good working knowledge and updated in the use of HTML, CSS, AJAX, PHP, JSP, JavaScript coding.
- Past experience with HTML editors such as Dreamweaver.
- Prior experience working with Database Management Systems such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and other desktop applications.
- Past exposure and experience working with Linux and Microsoft windows server and Desktop Operating Systems.
- Good working knowledge of image manipulation software such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, etc.
