Job Title: Stores Supervisors-Data Processing (2 Vacancies)

The Government of Uganda (GoU), through the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), will be undertaking the National Population and Housing Census 2014 Enumeration Exercise from 28th August to 6th September 2014 in accordance with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act, 1998. The Census 2014 results will provide bench-mark socio-demographic data at all administrative levels necessary for general administration and the planning process.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Stores Supervisors-Data Processing shall:

  • Carry out general management of the stores;
  • Receive all procured items for the Census 2014 Office;
  • Plan and carry out the Census 2014 store layout;
  • Ensure that all Census 2014 returns from the field or other work areas are checked and properly sorted for shelving according to provided guidelines;
  • Supervise retrieval of returns required for coding, data entry or reference from the shelves and re-shelving according to set guidelines;
  • Maintain the database and generate weekly reports for the movement of the returns;
  • Supervise the Stores Assistants and Stores Attendants;
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The candidates should hold a Diploma in Stores Management from a recognized institution;
  • A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (“A” Level) with at least a credit in Mathematics;
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
  • Sound judgment to identify and report problems to Supervisors and contribute to resolving team conflicts; and
  • High quality inter-personal skills.
