Uganda Management Institute (UMI) is a Management Development Institution with a mission “To Excel in Developing Practical and Sustainable Administration, Leadership and Management Capacity”.  It provides management training, consultancy and research services in response to the demands of the public, private, and NGO sectors.  In addition to short performance improvement management skills development courses, the Institute offers high quality career development management courses at Certificate, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Higher Degree Levels.  The Institute’s activities are currently carried out at the main campus in Kampala and its Outreach Centers in Mbarara, Gulu and Mbale.
Job Summary
Job Tittle: Stores Assistant
Organisation: Uganda Management Institute (UMI)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Salary Scale:     UM 6

Reports to:            Institute Bursar

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receive and take charge of goods ordered by the Institute
  • Check quality and quantity of goods supplied against specifications as per Purchase Orders
  • Issue stores as authorized by the Institute Bursar
  • Maintain an accurate record of goods received and issued using the Navision financials inventory module
  • Closely monitor material usage and advise the Institute Bursar and Procurement Officer on stock levels
  • Ensure that the stores are kept clean, accessible and safe to minimize the risk of loss of any form
  • Prepare and submit monthly Institute and departmental consumption reports and any other reports as required by the Institute Bursar
  • Facilitate the inspection of stores by Auditors, Board of Survey and other authorized persons
  • Prepare stores for monthly stock taking and ensure that the stock taking exercise is done at the end of every month
  • Advise the Institute Bursar and Management of any losses, obsolescence and damage to stock
  • Perform any other job roles as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should possess a Diploma in Accountancy or its equivalent. Those with Diploma in Stores Management or Logistics and Supply Chain Management will have added advantage
  • Two years’ experience in stores Management in a reputable organization
  • Competence in computer-based accounting/inventory management systems, preferably Navision financials will have added advantage
  • Self-motivation with keen interest to detail, meeting tight deadlines and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Possess high self-drive, be results-oriented, versatile, customer-focused, innovative and a team player
Job Terms:  All successful candidates will, on being confirmed in appointment, be offered five-year renewable contracts, a competitive basic salary complemented by housing allowance, medical allowance, transport allowance and an attractive gratuity scheme. Staff are also provided with support for continuous personal development.
