The Parliamentary Commission of Uganda serves the following functions;
- To appoint, promote and exercise disciplinary control over persons holding public office in Parliament;
- To review the terms and conditions of service, standing orders, training and qualifications of persons holding office in Parliament;
- To provide a Parliamentary reporting service;
- To provide such other staff and facilities as are required to ensure efficient functioning of the Parliament;
- To cause to be prepared in each financial year, estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next financial year; and
- To make recommendations to Parliament, or with the approval of Parliament, determine the allowances payable and privileges available to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.
Job Summary: The Public Affairs Officer – Camera (Still/Video) will provide video and still picture coverage of Parliamentary activities, events and ceremonies and maintain a database of records/recordings for retrieval.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Capture video and still pictures of Parliamentary activities, events and ceremonies
- Select the most appropriate pictures for print or visual publication
- Process and present finished work in a format or storage required by the recipient
- Archive and store photo/picture records for reference purposes as and when required
- Provide technical advice on specifications and handling of procurements
- Ensure proper maintenance of the unit’s equipment
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- The applicant should hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication or Journalism & Communication from a recognized University/ Institution
- Good digital editing skills
- Video and still camera handling skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work for long hours with minimum supervision
