Job Title: Managing Director

Job Summary: The Managing Director will steer the overall day-to-day strategic guidance, direction and leadership to Senior Management Team, and oversee the Bank’s operations that cover financials and support services, including Retail, Corporate, Deposit Taking, Mobile Banking, and other Financial Services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall day to day management of the work of the bank.
- Offers strategic advice and guidance to the senior management team and ensures well motivated, trained and developed staff at all levels
- Prepares and directs the implementation of the annual business plan and ensures that the bank attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
- Develops and directs the implementation of the bank’s operational systems, policies and procedures and ensures compliance with banking and other statutory regulations.
- Establishes and maintains effective formal and informal links with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision makers and other stakeholders.
- Prepares and gains acceptance, and monitors the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budgets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised.
- Develops and maintains an effective marketing and public relations strategy.
- Represents the organisation in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key stakeholders/contacts.
- Manages the preparation and presentation of periodic and annual reports and accounts.
- Performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by the direct report and or the board.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should possess a Good University degree in Commerce/Economics or Business Administration discipline and a relevant professional banking qualification from reputable institutions.
- Possession of a Master’s degree or higher qualification is desirable.
- A proven record of success at senior-level in general and commercial management in the banking and financial industry.
- At least ten years’ experience of managing people and resources, a minimum of 5 years of which should have been at senior management position.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the banking sector or industry in Uganda/East Africa.
- High level financial management and commercial awareness.
- Detailed knowledge and experience in strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, and control processes, and change management.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship building and diplomatic skills.
- Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with no supervision and under pressure while performing duties.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardised situations.
