Job Title: Logistics Coordinator

The GOAL Uganda country project focuses on two of GOAL’S strategic sectors, namely: Health (including WASH and health accountability) and Livelihoods and mainstreams HIV, gender, child protection and the environment across all programming. GOAL works on a district focused approach, and uses a mixture of direct implementation and partnerships with local organisations to give effect to the mission.

Job Summary:
The GOAL Logistics Coordinator will manage the Logistics function in GOAL Uganda both at country and field office level by providing effective and timely logistics support to all programmes. They will ensure that all logistics tasks are carried out in compliance with the GOAL and donor requirements, build the capacity of and manage staff in the logistics department. They will also serve as the security focal point counterpart for GOAL Uganda and as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The suitable candidate should also hold a relevant Master’s Degree in relevant subject;
  • Possession of Full or part completion of a professional and internationally accredited procurement, or logistics and supply chain management course (CIPS, CILTS, etc.) is required
  • Practical experience in areas such as repairing/maintaining vehicles, computer and communications systems setup an advantage;
  • Past experience in proposal development, budget preparation and planning, and report writing;
  • Prior experience of working in insecure environments
  • Three or more years’ experience in senior logistics management with an International NGO;
  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field;
  • Good working knowledge of project management, vehicle management, communication systems,
  • , procurement, stock control and asset management systems;
  • Working knowledge of security management systems and approaches for NGO’s;
  • Extensive skills and experience in capacity building and the training of staff.
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of systems;
  • Possess the ability and willingness to travel, including to insecure environments;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills in Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure to pursue multiple tasks simultaneously to successful conclusion;
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with an analytical approach to work;
  • Ability to take initiative and work long hours with minimal supervision;
  • At least a year’s experience on a Senior Management Team
  • Basic budgeting experience
  • Alignment with GOAL values
