Job Title: Driver
NCSC is a unique non-governmental organization providing technical assistance, training and technology to advance justice systems in the 50 U.S. states and around the world. Founded more than 40 years ago by the leaders of the U.S. courts to deliver on the promise of Equal Justice under Law, NCSC partners with donor agencies, host-country governments, and non-governmental organizations to create more effective justice institutions and promote the Rule of Law. The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) is seeking qualified Ugandan citizens to fill the below positions for the “Supporting Access to Justice, Fostering Equity & Peace” (SAFE Program) funded by USAID. USAID-SAFE is a five-year development Program that seeks to strengthen the Government of Uganda’s capacity with respect to peace building and conflict mitigation.
Job Summary: The Driver will drive office vehicles with strict adherence to local traffic laws, program rules and regulations pertaining to vehicles; transport project staff and materials and maintain the vehicle in a satisfactory manner; ensure cleanliness of the vehicle at all times; conduct periodic checks on vehicle and determine maintenance needs and report accordingly; and ensure that the usage log is updated daily.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate must have completed secondary education
- Five or more (5) years of driving experience.
- Good working knowledge of mechanics and repairs.
- Past exposure and experience in driving for USAID/USG or other donor-funded projects.
- Additional training certificate in defensive driving.
- Willingness to drive on missions in the interior of the country, including overnight and multiple day travel.
- Clear driving record and current driver’s license.
- Good English speaking and writing skills.
- Possess off-road driving skills.
- Past experience driving in and around Uganda.
- Possess the ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
