Job Title: Trade Finance Officer

Uganda Development Bank Ltd (UDBL) is the country’s only Development Finance Institution (DFI) established in 1972. The Bank has recently re-positioned itself as a partner to the Government of Uganda in delivering the theme of its National Development Plan.

Job Summary: The Trade Finance Officer acts as a central support to the trade finance front office and Business Development team in structuring & execution of trade finance deals including, issuance of trade instruments, transactional support, reconciliations, collateral management and trade settlements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Perform all trade finance operational functions of the Bank and coordinate with other units to ensure smooth execution of day-to-day trade finance activities in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Actively participate in structuring and documentation of all trade finance deals, and perform compliance checks prior to disbursements.
  • Initiate, review and implement all collateral management agreements with collateral mangers.
  • Co-ordinate with monitoring, implementation and recoveries unit constantly to ensure compliance with loan covenants.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the aforementioned banking job should hold a first degree preferably in Commerce/ Economics/Finance/Business studies or any other relevant course with a minimum of a second class lower;
  • Possession of a relevant postgraduate or a trade finance related professional qualification like CDCS or CITF, CSDG would be an added advantage.
  • At least three to six years’ cognate experience in trade finance operations in a busy environment preferable within a financial institution.
  • Good working knowledge of ICC rules such as UCP 600, URDG and URC and ISP 98;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of field ware housing, collateral management and ware house receipt system;
  • Good credit analytical skills; good presentation skills;
  • Possess the ability to work with minimum supervision; passion/self-motivation;
  • Ability to work under pressure
