Job Title: Finance & Administration Manager

Sawlog Production Grant Scheme (SPGS) is a Government of Uganda Project funded by the European Union, Government of Norway and Government of Uganda. It is implemented by Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE).

The program supports private sector investors in commercial tree planting throughout Uganda by offering conditional planting and Maintenance grants as well as practical training and technical support in various techniques to establish and maintain profitable forest plantations. Since 2004, SPGS has supported over 40,000 hectares of plantations established primarily for timber production.
Job Summary:
The Finance & Administration Manager will provide oversight of the Finance and Administration Function. Some of the key duties include keeping the Project Management Unit and staff abreast of the status of the project finances. The F&M Manager also  supports the development of project budgets, managing the project budgets, ensuring frugality, budget control and value for money. The jobholder also supervises the accountant and all other administrative staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree  in Commerce from a recognized University
  • Additional full professional qualification ACCA or CPA
  • At least five years’ working on EDF funded project with clear understanding of the Practical guide procedures
  • Preferably, the ideal candidate should have five years’ experience in a management and / or administrative position in an EU funded project is essential
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proactive, creative, able to innovate alternative solutions with original thought
  • Highly stress resilient – able to cope with deadlines and multi-task
  • Ability  to work as part of a team and as team leader
  • Highly well-organized and flexible with the ability to work independently and take on additional responsibilities when required
  • Excellent computer literacy skills: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, databases, etc.
  • Reliable, self-motivated with ability to work in a team and form productive, supportive and professional relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders
