Job Title: Operations Manager
Pan Afric Impex Transport Division, is a market leader in large scale transportation and logistics in Uganda and the East African region. Since 2006 they have increased the fleet of Scania trucks from 50 to over 160 with routes to DRC, South Sudan, Rwanda and Kenya.
Job Summary: The Operations Manager will ensure smooth running of the trucks in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The position contributes to all major strategic plans. Suggest initiatives in the organization that contribute to positive and long-term impact on operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain master transport schedule and work orders, establish priorities for specific customer orders, and revise schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
- Ensure that all vehicles road license and third party are renewed in time.
- Schedule trucks and map out routes
- Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production. He/she may expedite materials needed in production.
- Actively coordinate with technical department on scheduling drivers and trucks
- Ensure smooth client coordination and manage changes for all PAIUL projects including administrative excellence and customer, supplier and contractor communication.
- Ensure client changes are done professionally, on time and within budget.
- Audit and maintain all Marketing promotional material which includes but not limited to; Brochures, Flyers, Folders, Pull ups, Bill board Material and Tear Drops. To have the materials efficiently labeled and stored with easy access. To deal with suppliers and contractors in the procurement of Marketing materials working with the GM and as directed by the GM. As necessary to work closely with the appointed Media lead of PAIUL.
- Support in ensuring budgetary targets on sales are achieved.
- Compile and produce reports on sales, marketing presentations on a weekly basis.
- Effectively develop and manage the team. Ensure it performs to a high standard; ways of working and behaviours are in line with Pan Afric values;
- Ensure compliance with legal and organisational requirements; positive response to change; delivery of a consistent customer-focused approach and achievement of objectives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a relevant university degree.
- Four or more years’ experience in a relevant field.
- Past exposure and experience in fleet, assets, stores and general office management with large organizations preferably similar ones.
- Prior experience in fuel and monitoring of repairs is essential.
- Past experience in ERP systems, GPS tracking systems and be familiar with concepts like up-time.
- Highly familiar with health and safety issues. He/she should be experienced in the security function at an operation.
- The applicant must be experienced in scheduling transport and making bookings.
- Prior management and supervisory experience
- Strong sense of customer care and quality of service.
