Summary of minimum qualifications for academic positions
Teaching Assistant (IUA6 Salary Scale):
At-least a 2nd Class Upper degree in the relevant field.
Assistant Lecturer (IUA5 Salary Scale):
A Masters degree in the relevant field.
Lecturer (IUA4 Salary Scale):
A Masters degree or a PhD in the relevant field. For lecturers in the Faculty of Law and the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, a minimum of a Masters degree in Law or the relevant Computer Science or Information Technology field is the requirement.
Senior Lecturer (IUA3 Salary Scale):
A Masters or Phd in the relevant field, at-least 9 years of teaching experience in a University, four journals or book articles or a good book.
Professor (IUA1 Salary Scale):
A PhD in the relevant field, 15 years of good teaching experience at University level, publication of 15 articles in recognized journals and books, or at-least a combination of a good book and 10 articles or two good books.
