Job Title: Business Development Manager

Organization: British American Asset Managers (Britam)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Managing Director, Britam with a dotted functional line to the Chief Executive Officer – Uganda;
Job Summary: The Job holder will be responsible for building company position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships in the Uganda market
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Locating/ or proposing potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities in the areas of;
1. Institutional sale:
  • Development and management of relationships with trustees and gate keepers
  • Preparation of service offer tender documents
  • Generation of institutional sales
2. Property Opportunities:
  • Identification of opportunities for property investment and partnerships
  • Effective research to determine business viability
  • Development of deal pipeline for effective deal flow
3. Unit Trust Products:
  • Development of effective distribution channel for Unit Trust products
  • Generation of business within identified targets
4. Private Equity Opportunities:
  • Identification of opportunities for property investment and partnerships
  • Effective research to determine business viability
  • Closing new business deals in the identified areas by coordinating requirements;
5. Developing and negotiating contracts;
  • Integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Effective liaison with head office in Nairobi for effective support and turnaround timelines
  • Gather and share industry data to facilitate informed decision making
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s Degree. A post graduate degree will be an added advantage
  • Finance related professional certification  will be an added advantage
  • Professional qualifications in Finance or investment related area
  • Working experience of at least five years in real estate, investment management, corporate finance, investment banking or stock broking
  • Working knowledge of the investment management and reporting systems
  • Knowledge of investments and financial markets in Uganda
  • Knowledge of the rules governing the financial industry in Uganda
  • Familiarity with other disciplines related to business, such as finance, market research
  • Effective oral/written communications
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of best practice
  • Be an organized and strong negotiator
  • Rapport creation and sales competencies
