Job Tittle: Accounts Officers (5 Vacancies)
Organisation: National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Area Manager

Job Summary: The Accounts Officers will be responsible for the effective and efficient financial management of the Area and for maintenance of the necessary systems to safeguard the assets, financial performance and financial position of the Area.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall control of income and expenditure ensuring that all payments due to the Corporation are duly made.
  • Ensuring responsible stewardship and safe custody of cash and other assets of the Corporation.
  • Ensure periodic management and cost statements are prepared and presented to the Area manager and headquarters finance department.
  • Ensure that all financial records in the Area are up to date and reflect the financial performance and position of the Area.
  • Prepare and compile the capital and operations annual budget for the Area.
  • Timely posting of income and expenditure in the financial ledger from source records.
  • Prepare Area financial reports as required by the Corporation.
  • Ensure that the financial ledgers are regularly reviewed, verified and acted upon.
  • Overall daily supervision of work programs in the finance section.
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliation of all Area bank accounts.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicants should hold a Bachelors degree from a recognized Institution in Commerce (Accounting), Business Administration (accounting) or any other relevant discipline.
  • A professional qualification like CPA, ACCA will be an added advantage.
  • Must have relevant experience of one (1) year in Accounting.
  • Must have excellent computer and analytical skills.
  • Should possess high levels of initiative, commitment to work, ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and identify solutions to problems.
  • Should be good team player highly motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to train and mentor others.
