Job Summary: The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will work collaboratively with the CEO-BRAC Uganda Microfinance and other members of the senior management team to implement BRAC International’s strategic initiatives and achieve the goals of the transformed entity. The CFO must be an experienced strategic thinker and visionary leader bringing innovative and creative approaches while maintaining BRAC International fiscal stability, financial performance and mission and vision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for developing and implementing financially-sound strategic initiatives directly supporting BRAC IMF Uganda’s mission, strategy map, goals and objectives.
· Build and maintain strong working partnerships with all financial institutions, know financial legislation and tax laws and procedures to take effective financial decisions in favor of the organization.
· Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of processes that assist in enhancing short range and long range financial stability.
· Oversee the management of the accounting and financial functions, including financial management of the organizations growth through the establishment and implementation of supporting infrastructures (financial systems, finance staff, controls and procedures), ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, local regulation and audit
· Collaborate with the CEO and senior management team on organizational planning and decision making.
· Serve as a resource for members of senior management, counseling them on matters of strategy, fiscal control, federal regulatory compliance, program business performance, budgeting, business plan including cost allocation.
· Manage organizational procurement, payroll, and contracts functions and ensure best practices and efficiency
· Serve as a resource for information on compliance issues.
· Act as the primary contact with external and internal auditors and coordinate all financial matters with
· Responsible for providing accurate and fully compliant financial information to the public, banking partners, external auditors and other external agencies as required
· Accountable for overall management of the internal Finance andAccounting and Treasury Divisions, as well as providing accurate and timely financial reports.
· Responsible for risk assessment and internal controls to ensure accurate financial reports and compliance with laws and regulations.
· Send monthly communication with group finance to discuss and update progress.
· Management and coaching of all financial staff
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounts, Commerce or BBA-Accounting. A Post Graduate Degree or Masters is an added advantage.
· Additional qualification in CPA or ACCA is a must.
· A minimum of seven years’ experience at both operational and senior management levels.
· Excellent track record in budget and budget administration, financial, regulatory and compliance reporting required
· Practical financial and management experience in a reputable institution or audit environment
· General knowledge of a wide range of micro banking products and services.
· Advanced knowledge of standard banking compliance regulations, banking law, business law, employment and labour law, internal operational policies and procedures, and banking products and services.
· Excellent cross cultural people management skills
· Familiar with maintaining close contact with regulatory bodies, investors/ Funders and financial institutions in Uganda.
· Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to third parties and employees
· Strong leadership and team building skill with proven experience in developing and maintaining a strong senior Management Team
· Ideally domiciled in Uganda
· Willingness to travel both within and outside Country
