About UMU:
Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a faith-based private university established in 1993, and owned by the Uganda Episcopal Conference. UMU received a civil University Charter in 2005 from government, to legitimize its existence and autonomy. UMU offers full-time, weekend/part time, and distance-learning courses. Students are drawn from a variety of backgrounds and countries like Uganda, the rest of Africa and world-wide.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure efficient, effective and technical management of the Estates Section
· The incumbent will safeguard and inspect University premises to ensure that adequate protection measures exist for the assets, property, water system and electricity installations on campus.
· Prepare Bills of Quantities for constructions and repairs to be done.
· Oversee the implementation of technical projects including construction, rehabilitation, repair and maintenance of physical infrastructure-in order to ensure conformity to policies and procedures.
· Manage the construction, rehabilitation, repair and maintenance of buildings, furniture and fixtures.
· Working closely with any contracted company, the incumbent will ensure that the compound and all public premises of the university including offices, classrooms, hostels, and guest house and staff compound are cleaned and well maintained.
· Perform any other duties assigned to him/her by the relevant authority.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognizedinstitution.
· A minimum of three years’ practical experience in a recognisedinstitution
· Excellent track record of service to community.
