Job Vacancy: Environmental Officer at Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development

Job Title:  Environmental Officer

Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development is one of the oldest In-Service Training Institutes in Uganda.  The Institute is implementing a project in Nakivale Refugee Settlement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The incumbent will be sensitizing the Public on Environmental Conservation Policies, Laws and Regulations;
  • Supporting Community Initiatives for the Renewal and Sustainable use of the Natural Environment;
    • Tree Planting and Management
    • Promotion of Energy Saving Technologies
  • Technically support the Environmental Conservation Related Activities
  • Actively monitoring and supervising activities relating to the Environment within the Settlements.
  • Enforcing Implementation of the Community and District Environmental Action Plans.
  • In charge of identifying Opportunities and Constraints to Optimal use of Wetland Resources;
  • Compiling Reports on Environment Degradation and good Practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The ideal candidate for the Environmental Officer should hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Botany, Forestry, Environmental Management Studies or any other relevant field from a recognized Institution.
