Job Summary: The Program Accountant will support the World Vision HIWA Grant through the provision of financial technical guidance within the Grant in accordance with World Vision accounting policies and procedures and the acceptable International Financial Accounting standards and liaise with the Grants Finance Manager on all financial matters relating to the Grant
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In charge of preparing and reviewing financial vouchers, and allocate costs to all cost centres relating to key financial transactions.
- Carry out daily payments of cash and cheques to the respective payees and make weekly and monthly reviews as per the budget and donor requirements
- In charge of the preparation and updating of all necessary books of accounts and ledgers and cash flow forecasts in line with WVU financial manual.
- Carry out Bank / Project Financial dealings which involve cash withdrawals, deposits, Statements and transfers to Community Based organizations in accordance to WVU and the Donorrequirements.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly project funding requests, funding reconciliation and bank reconciliation statements for the project accounts in line with WV Financial Manual policies and guidelines.
- Prepare, implement and monitor a consolidated and Sub-cost Annual Project Budget and annual financial reports in accordance with WV Financial policies and guidelines and USAID Grantsrequirements.
- The incumbent will also perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Program Accountant vacancy should hold a University degree with a major in Accounting and part qualification in A.C.C.A, CPA or CIMA or equivalent.
- At least three years post qualification experience, preferably within World Vision.
- Extensive Computer knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SUN Accounting and Access is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and orally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- A mature and committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities
