Job Title:        Admin & Logistics Assistant

Reports to: Logistics and Security Manager

War Child Canada is an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), with the vision of “a world where no child knows war”. War Child Canada works with war affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunities and justice with cross cutting themes of child protection and gender. War Child Canada also takes an active role in raising public awareness around the impact of war on communities and the shared responsibility to act.

The War Child Canada Legal Aid clinic is a one stop-stop shop with a broad range of legal aid services to refugees and vulnerable people within host communities, identified through a means and merits test. Some of the services offered include; legal representation, alternative dispute resolution, and legal awareness.

Job Summary: The Admin & Logistics Assistant will provide adequate and timely logistical and security support to ensure the effective implementation of War Child Canada country programs and operations in Uganda. These include, procurement processes; undertaking inventory checks and maintaining up to date recording of all WCC Uganda fixed assets; warehousing and stock movement; vehicle and motorbikes fleet management; and security and emergency management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicants for the War Child Canada (WCH) Admin & Logistics Assistant job opportunity should hold a diploma or certificate in logistics, procurement, supply chain or related field.
  • At least two years of experience working a similar position.
  • Experience or good understanding of logistics support services, including transport, procurement and stock control.
  • Good coordination skills – methodical and self-organized with the ability to respond quickly to support requests.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, outlook, internet). Good written and spoken English language, including report writing.
  • Good lobbying and advocacy skills.
  • Strong team work with the ability to interact proactively and collaboratively with WCC program and support teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to work in remote area and undertake frequent travel, at times in short notice and spend time away from base and home.
  • Show commitment to War Child’s vision, mission and principles.
  • Previous experience working at a global organization, such as a charity is an asset.
  • Experience of developing and using information systems and running a range of logistics reports.
  • Proven appreciation of human rights and understanding of gender issues including SGBV
  • Affinity with War Child Canada’s mandate.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Creative, energetic, adaptable and flexible.
  • Stress-resilient to be able to cope with deadlines and complex problems.
