About Us:
Cesvi is an international NGO mandated to work in emergency, recovery and development settings. It has been operational in Uganda since 2001, working mainly in the following sectors:
- Food security interventions (agricultural inputs, agro and agro-pastoralist field schools);
- Livelihoods and economic development (market rehabilitation, access to land, income generation initiatives);
- Service delivery sectors including water, education, health (HIV/AIDs, sanitation and hygiene promotion).
About Program:
Cesvi in partnership with UNHCR is implementing the 6-month Emergency Response programme in Palabek Settlement, Lamwo District that will focus on livelihood, environmental and community support interventions targeting both the South Sudanese refugees and host communities.
Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the proper implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Emergency Response in Lamwo District. S/he will manage and mentor a team of field officers and community based extension workers to successfully implement the project ensuring that the objectives and targets are met. S/he will also mentor and work in close collaboration with the Uganda Based NGO supported by Cesvi. S/he will also be expected to contribute to further expansion of the programme by seeking for new opportunities that will strengthen and help grow the existing portfolio.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and oversee project implementation process to ensure timely, efficient and transparent delivery of programme activities.
- Mentor and supervise six field officers and eight community based extension workers, provide expertise and technical assistance in agronomy and agribusiness, marketing, IGA, environment and business enabling environments.
- Offer technical support to the Ugandan Based NGO and monitor the project activities by them implemented.
- Support in the development of vocational skills trainings and monitor the beneficiaries’ performance.
- Ensure that the environmental component is constantly taken care of during the project implementation.
- Ensure regular monitoring, data collection, data entry, data analysis and reporting on trends and results.
- Provide support in the development of assessment tools and conduct baseline surveys, needs, monitoring and evaluation assessments according to the project monitoring framework.
- Ensure that gender is streamlined at all levels of project implementation.
- Work closely with the leaders in conducting activities that promote peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities.
- Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly work plans with clear targets and strategy on how to achieve them and ensure the implementation of activities stated.
- Prepare and submit high quality reports, both internal and external, including narrative and quantitative information and reporting on relevant indicators and outcomes. Ensure that all reports are delivered according to high quality standards and are always submitted on time within the requested schedule.
- Conduct participatory market research, market opportunity identification and link beneficiaries to markets.
- Work closely with the relevant district, sub-county, parish, and local community authorities and leaders, to ensure proper implementation of the project and representation of Cesvi on all relevant forums.
- Liaise and coordinate with donor, other partners and agencies on activities related to livelihood, environment and peaceful coexistence.
- Work in close cooperation with and under the supervision of Area Project Manager.
- Perform any administrative duties that may be required, including preparing budgets, timely and transparent accounting for project expenses incurred.
- Fulfil any other related duties as may be requested by the Area Project Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Project Coordinator vacancy must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, agribusiness or development studies. A Degree in other area will also be considered if complemented with substantial experience in relevant areas.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in the field of livelihood/ environment.
- At least two years of proven experience in managing a programme with a substantial activity portfolio and budget is essential.
- Detailed knowledge of the specific context, issues and challenges related to livelihood/ environment in Northern Uganda. Experience of working in the region essential.
- Previous experience in working in a refugee settlement is an advantage.
- Excellent track record of engaging multiple stakeholders and facilitating effective partnerships between farmers and other actors along the value chain.
- Previous exposure and experience in team management and leadership within the context of project implementation.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills, reporting against targets and outcomes within strict deadlines are essential.
- Concern for accountability, transparency, quality and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Keen attention to detail, good time management and organisation.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint).
- Fluent in English and Acholi/Luo.
- Good motorcycle riding skills and valid riding permit.
