About US:

Mercy Corps is an International NGO that exists to alleviate poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Mercy Corps has been fully registered in Uganda as an operational NGO. Currently Mercy Corps has an office in Kampala and is implementing Food Security programs which comprise of Water and Sanitation, Livelihood and Agriculture and Conflict Mitigation Management Program in North and North Eastern Uganda. We implement programs in the northern districts of Pader, Kitgum, Agago, Lamwo, Kaabong, Abim and Kotido with funding from USAID, USDA, Walmart Foundation, SDC, DFID as well as other private donations.

Job Summary: The Human Resource Volunteer will be responsible for providing support to the Human Resource team pre-auditing all National staff files and ensuring the necessary documents are on file.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The Human Resource volunteer will be in charge of pre-auditing all existing and closed National Personnel Files to ensure all information is fully recorded into the National Database tracker.
  • The Human Resource Volunteer will ensure that all personnel files have complete HR documentation.
  • Design a missing matrix tracker for all personnel files to ensure missing documents are captured and put on file.
  • Re-organize the filing system as per Mercy Corps’ filing procedures.
  • Capture all information electronically and ensure all HR documentation is properly filled and that all hard copies are on file.
  • The HR Volunteer will conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps Uganda and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Mercy Corps Human Resource Volunteerjob opportunity should a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Industrial and Organization Psychology
  • Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to use copiers, scanners, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability and curiosity to work comfortably and effectively in the cultural and diverse environment.
  • The person should possess high levels of confidentiality, time management and professional.
  • The candidate should possess strong organizational skills, typing skills, and a keen eye for detail.
  • S/he will be an excellent communicator, have a strong sense of humor and be able to multi-task.
