Reports to: Procurement Officer

About Us:

Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd was incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act, 2012 on the basis of the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture Act, Cap 98 and Electricity Act, Cap 145 respectively. UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda. UEGCL’s key role is to – carry on the business of electric power generation and sale within Uganda or for export to neighbouring countries; build, operate and maintain Electricity Generation Plants; monitor the operation and maintenance of its Concessioned Assets – Nalubaale and Kiira Power Stations; provide Technical Support as and when required by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development; organize, support, encourage and maintain training facilities in technical and related fields, amongst others.

Job Summary: The Graduate Trainee Procurement will mainly implement procurement and disposal activities in accordance with statutory guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the preparation of solicitation documents and invitations for bids.
  • Assist in preparation of reports for contracts committee consideration.
  • Actively participate in the evaluation process.
  • Prepare and display best evaluated bidder notices.
  • Compile documents for contract drafting.
  • Offer technical support to contracts committee meetings.
  • Implement contracts committee decisions.
  • Maintain and archive records for all procurement and disposal transactions in accordance with the PPDA guidelines.
  • Perform any other relevant duties assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal applicant for the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL) Graduate Trainee Procurement job placement must hold an Upper Second Degree in Procurement, BBA (Procurement), BCOM (Procurement) and any other related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PPDA Act, Regulations, Guidelines and procedures and procurement environment in Uganda
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and high level of integrity
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Age: Below 35 years

NB: Graduate trainees should have graduated not earlier than 2016
