About DYNAMIC Programme:

Working in consortia with Mercy Corps, VSO and Restless Development, the Driving Youth-led New Agribusiness and Microenterprise (DYNAMIC) programme will strengthen systems and facilitate the creation of sustainable economic opportunities for disadvantaged Ugandan youth. DYNAMIC’s overall goal is to increase the number of young people who are in secure employment or self-employment and to promote effective and efficient agricultural market systems for youth. Through a market-driven and holistic approach, DYNAMIC will engage an array of public and private sector actors to increase access to goods, services, markets, information and productive and social assets to increase productivity of Ugandan agribusinesses and non-farm enterprises.

Job Summary: The Finance Assistant will provide financial support to GOAL Kampala and other field teams as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Finance Support

  • Obtain monthly expenditure listing for Dynamic program and ensure that all supporting documents are properly scanned in accordance with the agreement with MCF
  • Ensure all PRFs and supporting documentation are properly filed and kept in a safe place
  • Obtain relevant original tax invoices and receipts above Euro 400 and complete VAT claim schedules to be submitted every 3-6 months to funders. Photocopies of the receipts and invoices should be kept on file
  • Assist in preparing monthly WHT schedule
  • Assist in liaising between field, logistics and finance staff and give feedback on all payments to concerned parties
  • Timely updating and sharing of document tracker
  • Assist in processing bank payments based on approved requisitions
  • Following up on all missing vendor receipts and attaching them to their respective

Payment Requisition Forms

  • Assist in preparing monthly relief wages schedule before end of each month
  • Travel to field offices to support with financial duties for pre-planned periods when finance field staff are off location for extended periods of time
  • Handle any other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the GOAL International Finance Assistant job placement should a University degree in Business Studies/ Finance or related field, or its equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a finance related role preferably within an NGO environment is desirable.
  • Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spread sheets, word-processing, internet)
  • Experience of building relationships with customers at all levels of organisation.
  • Ability to work in a team and have a flexible approach to work and colleagues.
  • Good communication skills.
