Job Summary: The Debt Recovery Supervisor is responsible for championing debt recovery activities in liaison with all branches and external debt recovery agents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for prompt follow up and recoveries of assigned non performing portfolio of loans.
- Ensure all demand letters for delinquent loans in his/her portfolio are issued and served promptly in accordance with credit policies & procedures.
- Ensure all recovery activities and follow up are properly documented and filed in customers’ credit files.
- Work closely with branches, court bailiffs/brokers, auctioneers, lawyers to ensure quick disposal of securities pledged for non-performing loans.
- Liaise with branches, court bailiffs and lawyers to ensure alternative recovery measures are employed for unsecured loans and loans secured by inferior securities.
- Responsible for Prompt follow up with assigned court bailiffs, auctioneers & other debt recovery agents and advise Executive Director on all allocated loans.
- Give leadership and supervision of debt recovery officers ensuring that they meet targets.
- Maintain a proper diary in, Excel Spreadsheet format, for all the scheduled debt recovery activities e.g. demand notice expiry, advertisement notice expiry, auction date, etc. to be shared with Executive Director on weekly basis.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Executive Director
Key Result Areas:
- Reduction of non performing portfolio (min. 10% reduction per month)
- Reduction of number of non performing accounts (min. 10% per month)
- Recoveries against written off portfolio (min 5% per month)
- Personal knowledge, expertise and professionalism.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in micro finance and banking industry including micro and macro environmental factors and trends, credit management and risk management tools and approaches
- Keeps abreast of micro finance products and poverty eradication strategies through local and international networking activities.
- Identifies, assesses and meets personal training and development needs through relevant professional and commercial training and networking activities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the UGAFODE Debt Recovery Supervisor job must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business administration, Accounting, Statistics or any business related courses or at least one year working experience in a similar role.
- Must display positive attitude and high level of integrity.
- Must be self-motivated & self-driven
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Energetic and ability to be active throughout and willingness to learn
- High level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills and high level of customer care
- Willing to work long hours with minimum supervision
