Job Summary: The Area Coordinator manages American Refugee Committee’s response in the assigned Field Site and is responsible for timely and high-quality program implementation and support. The Area Coordinator provides supervision and leadership to both program and operational (support service – HR, Finance, Operations) staff at the field site, ensuring adherence to agreed work plans and reporting schedules as well as full compliance to ARC’s policies in the areas of Finance, HR, Logistics and Information Management as well as to donor regulations/polices. The incumbent will also work closely with the Program, Finance, HR and Logistics senior staff, technical staff as well as with donors and government in the assigned area to ensure that programmatic and operational strategies are coordinated and implemented in a timely manner at the field site.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Managing field sites offices, and capacity building; Day to day administration
·         Oversee ARC’s country strategy implementation at field level ;
·         Coordinate overall implementation of projects/programs at field level;
·         Provide day to day supervision for the team at field level, in coordination with programs, operations and technical unit;
·         Routinely facilitate the coordination system; Coordinate with programs people as well HR , Finance , Operations people at the field level and Kampala level for effective implementation of projects in a timely manner.
·         Represent ARC and liaise with local and regional government authorities, UN, NGOs and donors at field level;
·         The incumbent will be tasked with ensuring reports and all communication is sent in time;
·         Routinely assess the humanitarian and security situation in Nakivale & surrounding areas; Support implementation of security protocols and monitoring of the security situation, in coordination with the Security focal person.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·         The Area Coordinator should preferably hold a BA in development studies/Community Development or related field. A Masters in Management will be an added advantage.
·         At least three years’ experience as Head of Office with any International NGOs
·         A minimum of three years’ project management experience
·         Computer literacy skills
·         Excellent communication skills (English – both verbal and written)
·         Willing to live in a remote area/village and do considerable local traveling
