The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) was founded by President William J. Clinton and Ira Magaziner as a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. CHAI’s solution-oriented approach focuses on improving market dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for treatment; accelerating access to life-saving technologies; and helping governments build the capacity required for high-quality care and treatment programs.

About Project:

CHAI will implement an evidence based Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health project to support the Government of Uganda address the challenges above. The 4 year project will focus on ensuring that timely and quality Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health services are available and accessible to women, adolescents and children. Working at national, district and community level, the program will focus on equipping, and building the capacity of the health system to ably manage, deliver and sustain improvement in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health programming. The project will be implemented in 5 districts.

Job Summary: The Analyst, Monitoring and Evaluation will be responsible for using advanced qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze the effectiveness of the program. In collaboration with the Senior Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation, the Analyst will contribute substantively to monitoring, evaluation and implementation of the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Program in line with government priorities and according to CHAI program policies and procedures. The position will require approximately 40%-50% of travel domestically.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide data management and analysis for studies and maintain assigned projects
  • Use data sources to identify programmatic needs
  • Participate in field monitoring visits and monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the effectiveness of program implementation and provide feedback to program implementers.
  • Keenly analyze factors affecting the achievement of results, recommend corrective actions and follow up on recommendations
  • Participate in quarterly coordination and project review meetings and assist in compiling and maintaining project reports and minutes of meetings; using the information to make recommendations for improved project performance
  • Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Senior Coordinator to implement appropriate quality monitoring procedures, mechanisms and systems for effective implementation of the project
  • Provide technical support to CHAI program staff to report progress in achieving results, using existing monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Support the district coordinators and district health management teams to compile, synthesize and analyze project reports and ensure timely submission
  • May supervise small-sized team
  • May manage day-to-day activities of support staff
  • Coordinate and establish credibility with internal and junior level external stakeholders
  • Creates basic project budget with reasonable assumptions
  • Ensures appropriate posting of accounting information
  • Perform any other functions as may be assigned by supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Analyst, Monitoring and Evaluation – Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience as an analyst, preferably doing monitoring and evaluation work.
  • Experience in collecting, reviewing, analyzing and validating data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Basic analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and communication (written and verbal) skills
