Job – Community Development Coordinator at Water Missions International

Job Title: Community Development Coordinator

Water Missions International is a Christian engineering ministry providing sustainable safe water solutions through a Christian world view perspective, to people in developing countries and disasters.

Job Summary: The Community Development Coordinator (CDC) is key to the success of the Uganda Country Program (Water Missions Uganda). The incumbent will be responsible for performing community development tasks within the Country Program following established standards and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Offer technical direction, oversight, review and assistance for community development workers, volunteers, safe water committees and other local implementing partners.
  • Carry out community development tasks including site assessments, planning, community mobilization and training, monitoring and documenting lessons learnt related to the WASH program.
  • Provide coordination and guidance in implementing community development activities and maintain good relationships with government (local and national) and other development partners including UN Agencies.
  • Steer the community development aspects of the TradeWater projects and ensure that the project is sustainable.
  • Take lead in ensuring that the WMI reporting requirements are adhered to as per established standards.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies etc.
  • At least four years of experience in community development or business management
  • Hold Valid Drivers’ license,
  • Advanced skills with office computer programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills (English and Local language).
  • Excellent analytical skills, project planning, monitoring and management skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of and commitment to the mission of      the organization.

  • The person in this position must be a strong Christian and must feel a clear calling from God and a heartfelt passion for our mission.
  • The person must be able to take initiative and have the ability to fulfill multiple responsibilities.

  • Ability to work with a team towards common goals, and overcome diverse obstacles.
  • Ability to organize personal work load and achieve results in time.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
