While speaking to students at Africa Hall during a campaign rally this week, the outgoing Makerere university Guild President Ivan Bwowe cautioned students not to vote for candidates who incite violence.
This followed the chaotic incident at Lumumba Hall during a campaign rally that saw students admitted to Hospital with serious head injuries after a serious fight that involved an exchange of stones.
“We need people who will represent us intellectually and carry the image of Makerere university not only here in our boundaries but Uganda at large,” a visibly angry Bwowe said.
“Violence won’t be a solution to Makerere’s problems,” he added, as students turned more rowdy.
He added that it’s not worthy putting lives at stake just because of a campaign that lasts for less than a month.
These include Opoya Michael, Baguma Andrew, Namulindwa Stellah, Lubega Henry, Mukula George Williams, Mwine Musa, Sentogo Ivan, Bamwoya Tusiime F.
Voting the new guild president of Makerere university is set for 13th March 2015.
