Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) is the leading National Humanitarian Organization in Uganda and a member of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, comprising International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and National Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies (189 worldwide).

Job Summary: The ICT Coordinator will be in charge of the provision of the Information Technology Strategic Direction for URCS by ensuring that IT Systems are robust and functioning in line with the URCS strategy, policies as well as best practices in ICT.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, reviews IT Policy and enforces compliance on IT systems and Policies.
  • Develops, Implements, Monitors and Reports on the performance of the IT Unit Systems, Plans and Budget.
  • Deploys/spearheads implementation of new relevant technologies (Systems, Infrastructure and Processes) to ensure business continuity in accordance with manufacturer’s recommended best practices and Organizational Policies.
  • Assists the process of identification and recommendation of suppliers of IT services and goods (Assets and consumables) as per IT and Finance Policies and Guidelines
  • Works closely with IT Solutions Providers to plan, design and implement IT Business solutions relevant to different offices and Departments.
  • Develops implements and reviews the Contingency and Data Disaster Recovery Plan in accordance with IT Policies and Procedures.
  • Plans, Implements and Review the Security and integrity of Organizational Data and IT Systems as per IT Policies and Guidelines, considering individual and Departmental requirements in the organization.
  • Mentors and trains subordinate staff and Partners in the use of ICT Technologies according to IT unit plans and user/Organizational needs.
  • Offers technical support and recommend appropriate technology to staff and Partners as per user needs.
  • Supervises, motivates, appraises/builds staff the capacity in the Unit in line with the HR Policies and other organizational Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should possess a good bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer science, computer applications or any related IT field from a recognized institution;
  • A minimum of four or more years’ experience in similar position preferably from a busy organization with excellent knowledge in Troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows Networks Environment; Server Virtualization Systems like VM ware and Citrix; Configuration of Cisco and D-Link a network Switches/Routers/Firewall and Wireless Access Points;
  • Skills in Systems Administration of Financial Application like SUN, NAVISION and ability to handle multiple tasks in a multicultural setting;
  • A mature system-oriented person with high sense of judgment

Philimon is in love with photography, writing, reading, sharing new ideas and interacting with reasonable people for skills development.
