Job Title: Information Technology Officer
The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is mandated UCDA to: “Oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimise foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to farmers.”
Job Summary: The Information Technology Officer will offer expertise and guidance on information technology matters, and analyze and design information systems in line with modern ICT standards and procedures.
Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Intuitively review and update the UCDA ICT policy and advise Management on policy improvements, prepare system documentation and user manuals for Information Systems.
- Prepare budgets, procurement plans and specifications for the purchase of ICT equipment, software applications and related insurance.
- Actively monitor the security and integrity of the network and perform data backup and restoration.
- Scan for new ICT software & hardware, test and implement new information systems, and introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data center environments.
- Update and maintain the UCDA website including maintaining site appearance by developing and enforcing content and display standards, and editing submissions in line with established IT procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain an up-to-date register of ICT equipment, software, licenses and other types of documentation.
- Troubleshoot any reported problems and provide technical advice to users,
- Make sure that access rights of Users are complied with and update User account information and passwords.
- Work closely with authorities on ICT like NITA (U), Ministry of Information Communication Technology and Uganda Communications Commission on ICT related matters.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Information Technology Officer should hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering from a recognised University / Institution;
- Professional IT Certification such as Oracle, CCNA or Microsoft plus Proficiency in use of computer programming languages shall be an added advantage;
- At least three (3) years’ working experience in systems analysis, development and maintenance as well as programming on Linux and Windows Server Operating Systems;
- Detailed working knowledge and skills in use of various operating systems such MS Window, Apple IOS/OSX;
- Advanced skills in database management using SQL;
- Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
