How to Apply for an Internship Opportunity at URA

The Uganda Revenue Authority(URA) is a government revenue collection agency established by the Parliament of Uganda. Operating under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the URA is responsible for enforcing, assessing, collecting, and accounting for the various taxes imposed in Uganda.

To apply for an internship opportunity at the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) in 2023, you can follow these general steps:

  1. Research the URA: Start by thoroughly researching the URA to gain a good understanding of their mission, projects, and values. Explore their official website, social media platforms, and any available internship program information.
  2. Identify your area of interest: URA offers a wide range of internships in various fields such as urban planning, architecture, engineering, data analytics, policy development, and more. Determine the specific area that aligns with your skills, educational background, and career goals.
  3. Prepare your application materials: Update your resume or curriculum vitae (CV) to highlight relevant skills, experiences, and academic achievements. Tailor your application materials to showcase how your background and interests align with URA’s mission and the internship position you are applying for.
  4. Write a compelling cover letter: Draft a well-written cover letter that explains why you are interested in interning at URA, what specific skills or experiences you bring to the table, and how you believe the internship will contribute to your professional growth.
  5. Check for application requirements: Visit URA’s official website or contact their Human Resources department to identify the specific requirements and documents needed for the internship application. This may include transcripts, recommendation letters, or a portfolio of your work.
  6. Submit your application: Follow the instructions provided by URA to submit your application. This may involve applying through an online application portal, sending an email, or mailing a physical application package. Pay close attention to deadlines and ensure that all required documents are included.
  7. Follow up: After submitting your application, consider following up with URA to confirm they have received it and to express your continued interest in the internship opportunity. A brief, polite email or phone call can serve as a reminder and demonstrate your enthusiasm.
  8. Prepare for interviews: If your application is shortlisted, you may be invited for an interview. Prepare for the interview by researching commonly asked interview questions and practicing your responses. Additionally, be prepared to discuss your interest in the specific internship position and how you can contribute to URA’s goals.
  9. Attend the interview: On the day of the interview, dress professionally, arrive on time, and be prepared to ask questions about URA and the internship program. Be confident, articulate, and highlight your skills and experiences that are relevant to the position.
  10. Follow up after the interview: Send a thank-you email or note to the interviewers, expressing your gratitude for the opportunity to interview and reiterating your interest in the internship. This demonstrates your professionalism and leaves a positive impression.
