HESFB to Start Considering Arts Students for Study Loans

The Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) this year will start considering students offering Arts courses for its Students Loan Scheme.

On September 21 that HESFB executive Director Michael Wanyama said at an event at Victoria University on September 19 that they were considering “a small window for students who may have not done sciences at A’Level”.

“We largely support sciences but we also have a small window for those who may have not done sciences at A’Level, they can join the university to do IT,” the newspaper quoted Wanyama as saying.

Previously, HESFB has been offering the loans to students offering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses.

This will come as a welcome boost to bright but needy students intending to offer Arts courses at university.

KIU has been a major beneficiary of the scheme, with its students getting the highest number of slots in the last list released by the board.
